There’s a science internship program in Hawaii called the Akamai Workforce Initiative. “Akamai” loosely translates as “clever” in Hawaiian. College students from Hawaii who are interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) work experience should check it out. The Akamai program provides training and work experience in high tech fields, not just astronomy. One of the missions of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented groups, women and minorities, in scientific and high tech fields.
