Manta Ray Party
I shot this Manta ray footage just a short walk away from where I was eating my birthday dinner at a Kohala Coast restaurant. Look closely and you will see one snorkeler in the water. The resort has a light which attracts plankton and the Manta rays gather to chow down on their favorite food. There were also hundreds of small, silver fish in the water.
According to Wikipedia:
Manta rays are large rays belonging to the genus Manta. They are filter feeders and eat large quantities of zooplankton, which they swallow with their open mouths as they swim. Mantas may visit cleaning stations for the removal of parasites. Like whales, they breach, for unknown reasons.
